Published upon completion of the 6 volume trade edition, the Deluxe ‘Chartwell’ edition is, as Churchill himself said, the definitive text. It incorporates further revisions, and was completely reset and printed on larger, better quality paper. Each volume was given a two colour title page, a colour frontispiece and numerous photographs, drawings and colored maps (several folding). The whole being beautifully bound in red buckram cloth gilt. It was only available by subscription. This set is in particularly fine, bright condition.
Original red buckram cloth richly decorated in gilt on the spines and covers, two inset brown title labels lettered gilt. Upper cover with onlay in contrasting colour and with an embossed bust of Churchill bordered in gilt and printed in blind. Heavy coloured endpapers, top edges red, two colour headbands. Large 8vos. A truly lovely set of this attractive edition. Spines slightly faded, else in NEAR FINE - FINE state.
These books are large and heavy and the packed weight will be approx 9.5 kilos, and so may be uneconomical to ship overseas - would have to be shipped one or two at a time. The extra shipping cost will be added at the checkout.
