The following is a general guide of terms used by book dealers to inform customers of the condition of a book. This can differ slightly between book dealers but here is the guide we use at Fine1stEditions:
As free from defects as possible. A book and dust jacket graded as Fine look like they have just come from the printer. These are virtually new books but may have been read carefully.
Minor defects, light wear, generally no tears to dust jacket.
Very Good+/Very Good :
Show some signs of wear, general wear/fading to the dust jacket and book but still in very collectable condition.
There are lower gradings but we do not stock books with a lower grading than Very Good so have no need to mention them here. Also, many collectors wish to know if there are any inscriptions written inside the book or whether the dust jacket has been 'price clipped' ie: the price removed from the dust jacket. All of our listings state if this is the case.
